From Puna's unique Icon collection, this intricate handmade rug depicts the manos (hands) featured in the unique iconography of Peru's Nazca lines. It is thought that these ancient symbols were used as a connection point between the Incan Empire and the Universe.
Each rug is hand-woven in a small atelier in Peru using virgin sheep wool. The artisans produce the textiles on a horizontal loom. As they weave different patterns, they use at least two different techniques to create one rug. It takes three days to dye and prepare the wool fibres and an additional eight days to weave the rug.
